Who we are
RSVPplease is operated by Moneta Lend, based in New South Wales, Australia. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
You can reach us about privacy at privacy@rsvpplease.app.
Who this covers
Two groups of people appear in RSVPplease: hosts, who create an account and organise an event, and guests, who are invited by a host. This policy covers both.
What we collect
From hosts: your name and email address, a password (stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider), the parties you create, your message templates, and a record of any payments.
About guests: name, mobile number and/or email address, RSVP status, party size, any comment or answer they give, a GIF they choose, and photos they upload to a party album. Most of this is entered by the host, not collected by us directly.
Automatically: basic technical information such as IP address and browser type in server logs, and a small amount of data stored in your browser to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
How we use it
- To create and send invitations, reminders and RSVP confirmations by SMS and email
- To record replies and show hosts a live headcount
- To take payment when a host switches on SMS for a party
- To notify a host when someone replies, and to notify us when someone signs up
- To operate, secure, support and improve the service
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use guests' contact details to market anything to them.
Guest details are the host's responsibility
When a host adds a guest, the host is telling us they have that person's details legitimately and may contact them about the event. Hosts must not upload contacts they have no reason to message. If you were added to a party and would rather not have been, contact the host, or email us at privacy@rsvpplease.app and we will remove your details.
Text messages
Invitations and reminders are sent by SMS only for parties where the host has enabled it. Guests can stop messages at any time by replying STOP, and can reply YES or NO to RSVP. Standard carrier message and data rates may apply.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run RSVPplease. They only receive what they need to perform their function:
- Supabase — database, sign-in and file storage
- Twilio — sending and receiving SMS
- Stripe — payment processing (we never see or store full card details)
- Resend — transactional email
- Cloudflare — website hosting and delivery
- GIPHY — GIF search; only the search words are sent, never your details
We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
Automated tools and AI
Some articles on our blog are drafted with AI writing tools and reviewed before publishing. We do not use artificial intelligence to make decisions about you, and we do not use your personal information — or your guests' details, messages or photos — to train AI models, nor do we sell or provide them to anyone for that purpose.
When you search for a GIF, only the words you type are sent to GIPHY to fetch results; your name, contacts and event details are not.
Where your information is held
Our providers operate data centres outside Australia, including in the United States and Europe, so your information may be stored or processed overseas. We choose established providers that offer appropriate protections, but overseas handling may be governed by laws other than Australia's.
Security and retention
Access to data is restricted, connections are encrypted in transit, and guest records are readable only by the host who created them. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access.
We keep host accounts and their parties while the account is open. A host can delete a party at any time, which removes its guests and messages. Ask us to delete your account and we will remove it and everything it contains, except records we must keep for tax or legal reasons.
Your rights
You may ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email privacy@rsvpplease.app and we will respond within a reasonable time.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, tell us first so we can put it right. If you are still not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Children
RSVPplease is not intended for children to sign up as hosts. Guests are only ever contacted using details supplied by the host running the event.
Changes
We may update this policy as the service changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised, and material changes will be notified to hosts by email.
